CSI: Crime Scene Investigation (A.K.A. CSI: Las Vegas) is an American crime drama television series, that premiered on CBS on 10/6/2000. The series was made by Anthony E. Zuiker and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer. The TV series is filmed primarily at Universal Studios in Universal City, California.

The series follows Las Vegas forensic scientists criminalists as they use crime scene evidence to resolve grisly murders in this graphic drama, which has inspired a host of other cop-show ‘procedurals.’ An immediate ratings smash for CBS, the series mixes deduction, gritty subject matter and popular characters . The CBS network quickly capitalized on its hit with spin-offs CSI: Miami and CSI:New York.

CSI: Miami (Crime Scene Investigation: Miami) is an American police procedural T.V. series, which premiered on September 23, 2002 on the CBS network. The series is a spin-off of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

CSI: Miami follows a Miami forensics team led by Horatio Caine. Against a backdrop of simmering ethnic and cultural tensions, Caine’s team probes cases similar to those of their Las Vegas counterparts.

The pilot episode was first broadcast in the United States on May 9, 2002 as an episode of CSI and seven seasons have been aired in the United States. The 7th season is currently being broadcast in the UK and Ireland. The series is produced in partnership with the Canadian media company Alliance Atlantis and CBS.

On May 19, 2009, CBS renewed CSI Miami for an eighth season, which premiered in the United States on September 21, 2009 at 10:00 p.m. ET.
